Hi, welcome! My name is Ashante R. Patterson, and I am an inquisitive and efficient communications strategist and fundraising professional with a passion for health equity, education, public health, and social justice. I’ve had the opportunity to write and create content for universities, organizations, companies, and various industry clients. I’m also a freelance content writer and consultant. I thrive on creative challenges and enjoy building strong relationships. I have over 10 years’ of experience in communications, special event planning, project management, program management, grants management, and development (fundraising). I am enthusiastic about healthcare and education, and I have written several academic papers discussing healthcare inequities that affect women of color. I have also led crowdfunding campaigns that have made an impact in education. I hope that my writing can bring an increased awareness of health disparities and educational inequities to the mainstream media.
I completed my master’s degree in Communication and Media from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey; where I served as the Co-Chair/Special Advisor for the Rutgers Global Health Institute Student Council Alumni Engagement Committee. I also served as the Vice President of the Communication and Media (MCM) Graduate Student Association. I am a New Jersey native, who enjoys reading, writing, and I'm an avid jewelry and eyeglasses collector!
My work is focused on producing quality results and making a significant impact. I’m always happy to apply the experience and skills I’ve obtained throughout my life and career to an interesting project, especially one that involves creative problem solving and innovative thinking.
